Gorongosa National Park
Through the Gorongosa Project, the Carr Foundation restored and now manages Gorongosa National Park in central Mozambique and advances the sustainable development of the communities surrounding the park. The Gorongosa team has reintroduced species to the ecosystem, worked with the Mozambican government to extend the park's boundaries, and planted millions of trees on Mount Gorongosa. The Gorongosa Project created an international restoration ecology science research center, established eco-tourism in the park, and it provides health and education programs to people living near the park's borders.

Wassmuth Center for Human Rights
Founded in 1996, the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights began with the vision of constructing an Idaho memorial to human rights. That vision became reality when the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial opened to the public in 2002. The Memorial is a world-class educational park inspired by Anne Frank’s faith in humanity. A living, vibrant, interactive classroom for Idaho’s schoolchildren, it inspires people of all ages to contemplate the moral implications of their actions and the scope of their civic responsibilities.
The Carr Foundation was instrumental in establishing the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, home to the Wassmuth Center, and continues to support the Center’s operations and projects through ongoing grants.

Human Rights Education Institute
The Human Rights Education Institute offers proactive education programs that teach human rights, acceptance, respect for diversity, and cultural humility. Its programs, activities, and events seek to reduce racial prejudice and increase understanding in the community.
After the successful lawsuit against the Aryan Nations, the Carr Foundation provided seed funding to establish the Human Rights Education Institute in Coeur d’Alene. A historic downtown building was secured, and the Center opened on December 10, 2005.

The Community Library
The Community Library serves central Idaho with a wide range of educational resources and programs. Since its founding in 1955 as a privately-funded public library, it has grown from a small mining shack to a cultural institution with multiple locations and a bookmobile. It has a robust circulating collection and offers a lively slate of public programs. It includes the Center for Regional History, the Wood River Museum of History and Culture, and the historic Ernest and Mary Hemingway House and Preserve, which is the site of a writer-in-residence program.
The Carr Foundation supports the Community Library in Ketchum, funding the renovation of the Hemingway House and the library’s expansion, which includes the Betty Carr Regional History Reading Room.
